Analysts: Trade Deal Would Cost Taxpayers

government economics. actually, instead of paying more for sugar which is then passed on to the government in loan repayments, consumers don't pay and the government doesn't get the money. lesson : the loan in question has already been squandered. nothing will get it back.

Under CAFTA, those countries could ship more sugar to the United States. The CBO said the influx would push prices down and force farmers to forfeit government loans on their crops, costing taxpayers on average about $50 million annually through 2015.
